Spring Fling and Sketchy Thursdays

The Spring Fling ends today at Scrapbook Challenges, and here are two of my last three layouts for it. The last one will be coming later.

The colors in this one were inspired by the Photo Inspiration Challenge on Scrapbook Challenges, but the design of the LO comes from the Sketchy Thursdays challenge. Here is the sketch:

And here is my LO:

The next Spring Fling challenge was to do a layout using the word "First" in the title (and it had to be something that was a first for you in Springtime), plus use three patterned papers, distressing, sparkles, and a household item. My household item was a sponge to do the paint sponging in the background, and a Kleenex. I don't recommend the Kleenex though. I couldn't do anything special with it as it was just too thin.

And here's a closeup of the above LO:

Spring Showers

I did this for a Scrapbook Challenges Spring Fling challenge. It asked me to scrap something to do with rain/showers, so I chose to scrap a wedding shower. These pictures are from a wedding shower for my dear friend and Fabulous Lady, Anne.

Spring Fling, Paper Issues, and Sketchy Thursdays

This LO was done for the Sketchy Thursdays sketch challenge and the Paper Issues Blog Hop Challenge (about your favorite things). It was also done for the Spring Fling: Out With the Old and In with the New challenge on Scrapbook Challenges, which said to use content from your old stash and combine it with stuff from your new stash. The papers and poem are from my old stash, and the embellishments and title are all new stash.

Here's the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays:

And here's my version of it:

Happy Feet!

One of the Scrapbook Challenges Spring Fling challenges is to create a LO based on what makes you feel like Spring. Since I live in a climate that sees a lot of snow, I can't wait for it to be warm enough to show off the toes!! This is also my challenge for Punky Scraps, which required me to use 3 out of 5 ingredients (I used misting, distressing, and flowers, although there are sparkles thrown in there too on some of my embellies), and the Paper Secrets technique challenge, which required me to use stencils with mists or inks. Three challenges in one LO!! Not too shabby!!

Spring Fling!

Scrapbook Challenges is having a week of Spring Challenges! Here are some of the challenges I've done so far:

Spring Layers - Do a layout using the color green, and lots of layers:

And here's a closeup of the layers:

Spring Love - scrapbook your favorite thing about Spring. I love to go on walks and hikes in the warmer weather. Here's a nature walk Conner and I did when we were in New Brunswick:

Spring Forward - Scrap lift the layout that came after your last gallery post. I chose to lift the theme, which was about her father, and do a double page layout for my wedding album. Stay tuned for more Spring challenges!

March Challenge for Crop Suey and Punky Scraps

The Challenge at Crop Suey this month is to use tape on a layout. I used duct tape. The challenge at Punky Scraps is an inspiration challenge based on this image:

I combined both challenges into one layout (my son's Halloween costume):

This Week's Challenges

This week I've been working on some monthly challenges. This first one was done for the Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 245, and features my beautiful dog, Jack. Here is the sketch:

Finally, I did a Scraplift challenge on Paper Secrets. We could choose any layout in the gallery from past challenges to lift. Click here to see the layout I chose, and here is my take on it:

Thanks for looking at my layouts. I hope you enjoy them!!

Gallery Gem!!!

I am so thrilled! My LO, Portraits of the Past, was chosen as a Gallery Gem this week on Scrapbook Challenges!!! Thanks so much Carmen! Click here to see the LO. I just lost my grandmother in November, so scrapping these pages, while bittersweet, has helped me feel more connected to her, and I'm touched that my work on these was recognized.

Toilet Paper Princess

This is four-year-old Dayna, who was lucky enough to be the "Bride" for the toilet paper dress game at Auntie Cass' wedding shower. This was done for the March Sketch Challenge at Paper Secrets. Here is the sketch:

Multiple Challenges

Berry71Bleu has a fantastic giveaway this month that I would love to win. Check it out! Her challenge is to create three vintage layouts, so that is what I did. Some of them double as other challenges too. All three layouts are of my grandmother, Eileen, who passed away last November.

Here's the first layout, "Timeless Beauty". It also doubles as a "By the Numbers" challenge on Scrapbook Challenges that required you to use one photo, two colors of cardstock, 2 printed papers, 3 buttons, one window, and any other embellishments/alphas you like. I messed up in that my cardstock isn't true cardstock -- it's more of a two-tone cardstock, but I'm going to submit it anyway. I included the poem The Beauty of a Woman, because my grandmother had such a beautiful heart.

Here's a closer look at the details of this layout.

Here's the next layout, simply titled "Nan":

Here's a closeup of the first page:

And here's a closeup of the second page, which is also loosely based on this week's sketch from Scrapbook Challenges (the sketch follows):

Here's the sketch (I altered it quite a bit):

And here's a detail picture:

Finally, here's the third vintage layout for the Berry71Bleu challenge.

Sketch Challenge

Wow, it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. Here's the sketch I used last week from the Scrapbook Challenges web site:

And here's my version of the sketch. I experimented with paint this time. I'm not sure I like the effect, but it definitely gives the page some energy. My son used to fall asleep everywhere, everyday, so I did what every good mother does, I scrapped it. :)
