Scraplift Challenge Pick of the Week

I scraplifted the Pick of the Week on Scrapbook Challenges. Click here to see the pick of the week. Here is my take on it.

March Challenge for Crop Suey and Punky Scraps

The Challenge at Crop Suey this month is to use tape on a layout. I used duct tape. The challenge at Punky Scraps is an inspiration challenge based on this image:

I combined both challenges into one layout (my son's Halloween costume):

This Week's Challenges

This week I've been working on some monthly challenges. This first one was done for the Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 245, and features my beautiful dog, Jack. Here is the sketch:

Gallery Gem!!!

I am so thrilled! My LO, Portraits of the Past, was chosen as a Gallery Gem this week on Scrapbook Challenges!!! Thanks so much Carmen! Click here to see the LO. I just lost my grandmother in November, so scrapping these pages, while bittersweet, has helped me feel more connected to her, and I'm touched that my work on these was recognized.

Toilet Paper Princess

This is four-year-old Dayna, who was lucky enough to be the "Bride" for the toilet paper dress game at Auntie Cass' wedding shower. This was done for the March Sketch Challenge at Paper Secrets. Here is the sketch:

Multiple Challenges

Berry71Bleu has a fantastic giveaway this month that I would love to win. Check it out! Her challenge is to create three vintage layouts, so that is what I did. Some of them double as other challenges too. All three layouts are of my grandmother, Eileen, who passed away last November.

Here's the first layout, "Timeless Beauty". It also doubles as a "By the Numbers" challenge on Scrapbook Challenges that required you to use one photo, two colors of cardstock, 2 printed papers, 3 buttons, one window, and any other embellishments/alphas you like. I messed up in that my cardstock isn't true cardstock -- it's more of a two-tone cardstock, but I'm going to submit it anyway. I included the poem The Beauty of a Woman, because my grandmother had such a beautiful heart.

Here's a closer look at the details of this layout.

Here's the next layout, simply titled "Nan":

Here's a closeup of the first page:

And here's a closeup of the second page, which is also loosely based on this week's sketch from Scrapbook Challenges (the sketch follows):

Here's the sketch (I altered it quite a bit):

And here's a detail picture:

Finally, here's the third vintage layout for the Berry71Bleu challenge.

Sketch Challenge

Wow, it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. Here's the sketch I used last week from the Scrapbook Challenges web site:

And here's my version of the sketch. I experimented with paint this time. I'm not sure I like the effect, but it definitely gives the page some energy. My son used to fall asleep everywhere, everyday, so I did what every good mother does, I scrapped it. :)
